Personal Trainer Tips
Ah, Personal Trainers.
Gotta love them… well, most of them.
A friend of mine recently had an experience with hiring a Personal Trainer (I think it was the first time he’d hired one too). How he felt about the whole thing made me really want to post this little diatribe for you guys.
I won’t elaborate here because I think the video is worth watching to hear what happened to him and my feelings on the subject.
I also address my OCD behaviour with my Inner Circle Mailings this week!!
Free Stuff!! Its not a BAD thing is it? LOL.
If you aren’t signed up and you like knowing when GOOD free stuff is available out there, then you should probably sign up. I like to keep my Inner Circle people fully in the loop when good free stuff is being offered by the fitness community.
Check it out!
And as always, here’s our Workout Song of the Day, chosen for its fabulous angst. One helluva good weight training song, I guarantee it!!! Enjoy!
RANCID – Salvation
BTW, you guys know that if you like this song its super easy to go get it right? Its like 99 cents or some ridiculously low price … just click on this widget and it takes you to Amazon where you can buy an actual mp3 (not that confusing format that iTunes forces on you)!!
That’s it for today kids!! Have a super duper day and we’ll see you again very soon!

I always give my clients their workouts in type and pictures. I feel that it is the only right way to do things.

I hate it when people over price their services and don’t do a good job.
I stopped going to a gym because of them always increasing their fees and their new trainer they hired to replace the one I had, wanted me to work to her schedule instead her working to mine. For me heading to the gym after work, worked before for me instead of racing from a 2hr dragon boat practice to the gym then head to 8hr shift at a warehouse isn’t what my body signed up for.
How have your courses been??

I don’t think the trainer was holding out. I bet writing didn’t come easy to him. There are plenty of people like that. They are articulate, interesting speakers but they can’t write. For them it’s a huge chore to compose words. They procrastinate and avoid writing until pushed into a tight corner that they can’t escape, as it sounds like your friend finally did to the trainer.
If you think of the trainer’s actions in that light, that writing was just a hard task for him, then you can believe that he wasn’t trying to cheat your friend or force him to remain a paying client indefinitely; he was just putting off doing something he disliked, which ironically is kinda how a lot of people feel about exercise.

thanks Susan… that’s an interesting perspective.. I stand behind my convictions tho… making sure the client has the correct backup when the client NEEDS it is kind of his JOB … so uncomfortable or not, he should have been doing it as they went… my friend, once he finally received the info, had to take time to remember and really think through some of the exercises because it was more than a week past and they’d done so many new things that he was starting to feel confused by it all. If the trainer doesn’t like to write, he should just mark down the exercise name and draw stick men (which is what I do).
Another thing to consider if he doesn’t like to do paperwork is: what on EARTH do his client files look like? Is he keeping track? having them fill out the correct health forms and questionnaires before he gets started? I asked my friend if he was asked to fill out any of that and the answer was “no”…. this guy is just flat out not being responsible in my opinion.
thanks for the alternate perspective!!! Always love to hear from you guys!
