Truth About Six Pack Abs – Busting Out All The Secrets
OKAY, I’ve done enough “yak, yak, yakking” about how great I think Mike Geary’s book Truth About Abs is and what it’s done for me personally …
… so, I figured it’s about high time I do right (or maybe wrong) by the book that got me started on my road to ab-tastic success and take it one step further in the form of a little secrets-busting mini-review.
I’m going to give you the straight dope on what you get in The Truth About Six Pack Abs by Mike Geary … and what you don’t … straight up, no bull.
First off, let me be completely transparent and honest with you. I’d love for you to buy this book … from me. But the reason I want you to buy it from me is so Mike can see that I’m pimping him out big time, because I’m so damn grateful to him!
I can’t emphasize enough how great this book is. If you are just starting out, OR if you’ve been at this fitness thing a while, if you are male or female, older or younger, this book WILL help you move forward in your quest for visible abs.
Hey, it helped me right?
A whole lifetime of working out and seeing my weight go up and down by 25+ lbs repeatedly over the years, and even during those times that my weight was down I still wasn’t seeing those damn abs!
Until this book.
Make no mistake: I credit Mike Geary with these awesome abs I now have, AND have been able to maintain for several years.
No doubts, no questions.
It’s clear to me who gets all the credit …
… well, the credit for putting me on the right path anyway…
hey, because I’m gonna take MY props here too… I’M the one that gets the credit for doing all the actual WORK…
… but Mike gets the credit for pushing me at the RIGHT work.
So, okay…
What is IN this book that is just so damn fantastic?
Glad you asked.
Cuz that’s what we’re doing here today:
Exposing the contents of The Truth About Six Pack Abs.
Truthfully, I kinda hope Mike doesn’t find out EXACTLY what I’m doing with this whole exposure thing but I really want you guys who are on the fence about buying it to get OFF the fence and just go buy the damn thing…
… and if me letting out a smidge too much info about the contents will get you off that fence then my work here is done!
If you’ve already heard enough and you just want to go buy the book right this minute, here ya go:
Okay, ready? Here it is:
1.0 INTRO
Mike gets serious about just how effective the ‘short and easy’ route is. That is: IT’S NOT!!
Sorry to anyone out there that thinks there’s a ‘no sweat’ way to do it, there just isn’t.
He talks about the latest gadgets, gimmicks and fads and gives a quick overview about how adopting healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to feel like a chore … or deprivation.
I’m here to tell you he’s right. I’ve adopted this lifestyle and I don’t feel left out of anything. You’ll understand why in subsequent chapters.
2.0 RELATIVE LEANNESS OR BODY FAT %
Here’s where reality comes to roost a little while Mike explains why doing tons of crunches, crunches and more crunches in order to achieve defined abs is a misperception, and why we as a society choose to believe this.
Then he explains why and how overall body fat percentage is the key.
3.0 THE STARTING POINT – MORE IMPORTANT THAN TRAINING & DIET “DETAILS”
Mindset. The RIGHT mindset.
Get it, and get it good. Seriously.
Get it and you’re already half way there. But how?
Mike explains exactly what it is, and how to get it and make it work (and work well) for you.
4.0 THE OVERWHELMING IMPORTANCE OF YOUR DIET
WOW!! This chapter is absolutely PACKED with information!
13 subchapters and 44 pages of dietary GENIUS, including real, down-to-earth advice about the quality of all kinds of foods as well as the kind of calories you should be bringing into your own diet for maximum health and results.
Plus, in this chapter, some of the things he has to say about fatty foods and fat consumption will probably BLOW YOUR MIND (that’s the effect it had on me anyway).
No they AREN’T bad for you. Same goes for carbs.
This chapter alone is worth the price of the book.
This section also outlines in very specific detail some awesome and very realistic eating guidelines and TONS of meal plans.
There is no chance that you’ll be left feeling lost about nutrition at the end of this section.
5.0 SAFE AND EFFECTIVE ABDOMINAL DEVELOPMENT
Now he’s on a roll …
… hot on the heels of that last chapter chock full of valuable information comes this one:
Another 27 pages of detail about the abdominal area and how to develop it, carefully and painstakingly explained so as to not leave you with any confusion whatsoever.
Mike explicitly outlines which ‘so called’ abdominal exercises to avoid and what exercises to focus on when specifically working your abs.
He also goes into further detail about which ‘non-traditional’ ab exercises actually work the heck out of your abs, and give you a great overall workout at the same time.
Then he goes that one step further and lets you in on a common misperception:
No, you do NOT have to (and nor should you) work your abs every single day.
SURPRISE!
(oops, did I say too much here? hm … maybe …).
And then he drops the bomb that an ab workout need only be 10 minutes long and you can STILL ACHIEVE A SIX PACK.
My jaw dropped when I read all this for the first time (but it’s true, I now only work mine for 10 minutes total on “ab day”).
… and THEN he outdoes even himself and backs up every exercise he’s already explained with several photos of EACH move.
You won’t have any ‘how do I do that one?‘ confusion at the end of this chapter, either.
Good for him. He rocks.
Finally, he wraps it all up in a nice tidy bow with several specific ab-training routines for the beginner, intermediate and advanced athletes.
Regardless of your fitness level there’s a routine here for you!!
AND there are routines for you to move on to once you’re ready to advance (and you will).
Seriously. He rocks!
6.0 LEAN BODY MASS AND METABOLIC RATE
Alrighty. Here’s where Mike gets a little ‘science-guy’ on us. But it’s for a good reason.
In order to really ‘get it’ you’ve got to understand this stuff.
There’s some explanation about how to calculate your resting metabolic rate and figure out what your daily caloric intake should be… sure, it’s a little technical, but it’s a very important detail if you’re serious about seeing your abs.
Nicest thing is he knows where to be detailed and where not to. He won’t lose you in scientific jargon.
This chapter is only three pages long … it’s quick, it’s to the point and most importantly, it’s SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND.
Mike, you rock.
7.0 METABOLIC EFFECT OF TRAINING
This is the section that really blew me away.
I had no concept of the things Mike talks about here before I read Truth About Abs.
Did you know there’s a WAY to train that’s bigger and better and FASTER and MORE EFFECTIVE than just cranking out 3 sets of 10 bicep curls and similar types of exercises?!?!
This technique burns more calories overall, builds muscle at the same time AND gets the job done in a HURRY!!
Your workout time is spent to the most optimal efficiency and you get your butt OUT of the gym and on with your life FAST!
Love it! By far the most enthralling chapter of them all.
Oh, and by the way Ladies, building muscle will NOT make you look like Arnold.
We just aren’t built that way.
That’s another misperception that Mike explains in this book, so don’t let this little fear make you run for the hills.
What building muscle WILL do for you is make you look toned, in shape and SEXY! Plus, building muscle helps you burn more calories even while sleeping!
So, you WANT to build muscle. Got it? Good! Let’s move on.
8.0 FREE WEIGHTS VERSUS MACHINES
Mike gives you the straight dope on why machines suck and free weights rock.
Don’t like this piece of information? Tough. Embrace it anyway.
Machines limit your advancement and free weights (if done properly, and he tells you how) improve your workout and make it more effective.
Movin’ on…
9.0 THE PROBLEM WITH CARDIO, AND MY SOLUTION
HA! This chapter title is a surprise, right? It sure was to me.
Now you’re asking “Cardio is a problem? Since when? It’s how we all burn fat, right?”
Nope … Well, yes AND no.
Mike’s got some seriously fabulous alternates to doing that long, boring ‘hamster on a wheel’ cardio that everyone and their trainer has drilled into our brains that we MUST do in order to burn fat.
Yep, Mike has ways to incorporate a variety of cardio types into your routines that WORK BETTER than all that boring, monotonous stuff …
… and just like his weight training routines, it saves you TIME.
More effective cardio workouts done in less time lets you get out of the gym and on with your day fast!
Pssst… can you say “interval training”?? (damn, maybe I just said too much again… oh well!)
10.0 FREQUENCY AND DURATION OF TRAINING SESSIONS
Mike expounds on all the things he’s been talking about up ‘til now and why all these techniques work so well…
… and then he further hammers home that you do NOT have to spend 2 – 3 hours a day in the gym to get an effective workout and rip your abs.
He discusses why rest is so important and the realities of over-training.
Believe it, it’s real.
You CAN train too much.
He outlines what is considered ‘too much’ just in case any of you want to get carried away and train for hours with his techniques anyway.
Don’t do it.
Listen to him. He’s a smart guy. Really.
11.0 PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER INTO AN EFFECTIVE TRAINING ROUTINE
Another information-packed chapter … 36 pages of detailed explanations about how to put it all together.
Mike includes another huge collection of pictures detailing the exercises he talks about in previous chapters. He leaves you with no room for error.
You just can’t screw up with all this terrific detail and instruction.
This chapter caps off with a huge collection of full programs for everyone from the beginner to the advanced, with lots of ways to progress your workouts as you advance (and if you follow his programs you will advance).
12.0 ADDITIONAL LEAN BODY TIPS
You know what? This stuff just isn’t obvious.
When you read the advice he imparts here you may just say to yourself “well yah, sure” but I’ll bet until you DO read it, it’s just stuff that doesn’t come to mind when you think about what it takes to get (and keep) a lean body.
And if it is stuff you already know, then a reminder never hurts.
‘Nuff said. Read it.
13.0 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS CONCERNING ABS AND BODY FAT
Have you ever heard the adage that “there are no stupid questions“? Well, it’s true.
Just when I thought everything was crystal clear, Mike takes the time to answer some additional questions from his readers about nutrition, health and fat loss and actually explodes a few MORE commonly held misperceptions and myths in the process.
This book just never stops delivering.
14.0 FINAL THOUGHTS
A short wrap up, some acknowledgements and a final pep talk from Mike. The perfect closer.
Ok, so that’s the book in a nutshell.
Obviously you have to read the book yourself to really get all the great information that’s in his head into your own.
I couldn’t possibly tell you everything without just copying the book here ad nauseum … and something tells me Mike and his copyright lawyers wouldn’t like that very much!!
And, here’s one more thing you need to know…
Yes, this book is chock full of great info that you absolutely MUST read if you want to get lean and see your abs, but if you order his book now, you’ll be blown away by not only the contents of the book but the absolute TON of bonuses the guy gives away.
I mean really … how is one supposed to get through all that stuff and just get on with working out?
Take my advice and don’t get caught in the trap I found myself in (albeit temporarily) of trying to get through EVERYTHING before you get started … just read the main book and get rocking it.
THEN move on to the bonuses AS you work your program. PROMISE ME you’ll do that!!
Don’t do what I did, because I wasted a good couple of weeks just reading and going into information overload.
You don’t need to read all the bonuses immediately just to get started, you need to read Truth About Abs cover to cover and then get the heck to WORK!!!
Don’t get me wrong, the bonuses are awesome in their own right.
I just don’t want you to get stuck absorbing information when you really will have all the knowledge you need to get started by the time you finish The Truth About Six Pack Abs. The bonuses are just that: BONUS.
So, have I convinced you yet? Jumping off that fence? Good.
Get Mike Geary’s Truth About Six Pack Abs now:
Okay!! That’s all I have to say.
I doubt you’ll regret buying this book but if you aren’t convinced by now, I give up! You’re a lost cause!!
What are you even doing coming here??
You ARE into Fitness and Health, right??

Great review! This sounds like a lot of valuable information is given. I respect your opinion, so if you think highly of this book, it must be great. :)
Congratulations for finding your abs! I saw your video on your inspiration wall with positive quotes and think that’s a great idea. Myself, I’ve stuck a pic of a bikini model on my fridge but when someone comes over I take it down. Don’t feel like explaining. :) After seeing that vid I might make something more substantial now.
This book sounds like something that I’ll buy once I get closer to my goal weight. (I have about 30 pounds to lose to get into the lean body fat % category). I still have Tom Venuto’s book Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle and the bonus files to wade through. Tons of info there.

thanks Karen… personally, at first I was weird about my vision wall being in such a noticeable area in my house, but ya know what? I’ve found that everyone either doesn’t give it a 2nd thought or is really supportive about it. I say leave it up, be proud and talk about it extensively to anyone willing to listen. The more you talk about it the more real it becomes for you.
:-)
thanks for the comment!

There are certain things that I am unable to do do to problems. I am not too over weight but more than I would like to be and certainly don’t have abs. What kind of work outs do they require you to do? I am not well in money and can’t afford to buy a book that tells me to do things I can’t do.
Thanks,
Lendai.

There’s lots of great nutrition advice (and its stuff anyone can follow if they CHOOSE to), and lots of full body compound moves involved, if you’re only a little bit overweight, then this should not be stuff you can’t do and it will definitely help you find your abs like it did for me.
