It’s a Workout … Not a Fashion Show!
What do you wear when you work out?
Are you always in the most high-fashion workout clothes available?
Well, that’s great for you if you can afford it … and if you don’t mind ruining expensive clothing by sweating all over it or possibly tearing it on equipment …
And for those of you prancing around the gym in matching everything, I ask you this: Are you actually there to work out?
Or are you there to see and be seen (and possibly do a little flirting)?
If you’re there for the latter … please … could you get the heck out of my way and go do that somewhere else? I’m trying to work here …
And for those of you out there who maybe DON’T have the most up to date fashion to wear to the gym or on your run, are you actually using that as an excuse NOT to work out?
Worried about what people might think, are we?
grrrrrr … you are trying my LAST NERVE, lemme tellya!!!
Watch this:
And yes, yes … I know … for running it is actually kind of important to have the proper shoes (unless you’re a fan of barefoot running, but that’s a subject for another post) …
… but for the most part, lack of money for cute clothes (or even not having anything clean) is REAAAAALLY no excuse to skip out on your workout.
If you’re doing it right, you’re gonna look like hell at the end of your workout anyway, right?
Sweaty, disheveled and puffing for air?
Yup.
So who cares what your clothes look like or if they’re even the ‘right’ clothes … just go get ‘er done.
Okay?
OKAY!!
Have a fit, fun and fantastic day!

I completely agree with you that if you’re not going to the gym to sweat and workout then you should get out of the gym and stop wasting space and equipment. I don’t think this has anything to do with gym attire though. I think you’re just as likely to find non-matchy matchy cheaply clad gym goers who are devoid of focus and ettiquite. I can think of 5 or 6 at my gym off the top of my head.
I’ve been known to be a little on the matchy-matchy side and yes I’m a Lululemon wearer, but I go to sweat, give it my all everytime I step through the doors, and I’m very happily married, with no interest in flirting with other gym goers.
I say it’s time to judge people based on their individual behavior, not jump to generalized conclusions based on their attire.

Chrissy, sure, agreed, but that’s not what I was saying.. I’m saying that for anyone who ISN’T working out BECAUSE they feel they don’t look fancy enough in the gym, that is NO EXCUSE. That was the point of this post. Nothing else.

I don’t workout, I train.
Just as long as it’s decent and clean (but overall functional)
