Water Bottles vs Drinking Fountains
AARRGH!!
It happens at the gym. It happens on the seawall running path. I’m sure it must happen other places, too.
What is the deal with people taking FOREVER to fill up their HUMONGOUS water bottles at the drinking fountain anyway?
Why? When there’s a perfectly good sink usually within 10 steps of the fountain?
It doesn’t even make sense.
It’s awkward …
… it’s slow …
… it’s inconsiderate to others waiting to take a quick sip between sets …
… it’s totally unnecessary!
That’s all I want to know …
WHY?
I explain my frustration in more detail here:
Of course, I do use a water bottle sometimes … like at the beach or in the car or when I’m working out outdoors and there isn’t a water fountain nearby.
But I don’t drink out of those nasty plastic jobs. I got myself a couple of good quality, stainless steel “Klean Kanteen” water bottles.
Sure, they cost a couple of extra bucks, but they’re totally worth it to know you’re not polluting your water with the crap that leeches out of those plastic bottles …
… and the water tastes better, too. Who likes the taste of water that comes out of a plastic bottle … especially one that’s been sitting in the sun for any length of time? BLECH!
STOP DRINKING PLASTIC!! Do yourself a favour and grab a good quality stainless steel bottle here ==> Klean Kanteen
Have a fit, fun and fantastic day.

I fill my water bottle at the drinking fountain. Would you seriously consider filling your water bottle in a bathroom? Compare the sanitary condition of drinking fountain compared to a bathroom sink. Granted a drinking fountain where hundreds of people use it carrying who knows what kind of germs is the cleanest but compared to that of a bathroom sink i think the drinking fountain is probably much cleaner.
Just my 2 cents.

Hey Jay!! LTNS! I have to disagree tho. People spit in the fountain (I’ve seen it) and it’s no cleaner in the fountain than the bathroom SINK (not asking you to fill from the toilet, like a dog!! LOL)… the sink runs constantly and for the most part people aren’t putting their mouths OR hands on the spigot. The fountain on the other hand. Dunno. I see no probs with just running the tap and filling it there.
Missed ya! thanks for popping by!

Most fountains are probably filtered and refidgerated are my reasons.

Uh. They really AREN’T.. at least in Vancouver’s gyms I’ve been in. I’m not talking about one of those big plastic bottles full of filtered water. I’m talking about a big shiny silver stainless steel tap… exact same water as the tap in the bathroom…
thanks for the comment.

I’m with the consensus here so far. I’ve not got a problem with anyone filling up at the fountain

Jackie, you are 100% right about that. I will admit that I have filled small cups and bottles from a fountain, but when it comes to the larger sizes, I would use the sink because it’s MUCH faster. Have you done a video yet where you compare bottled water to tap water? Penn & Teller, on their show, “Bullshit”, had an episode where they examined that subject, as well as Feng Shui. I think it was from the first or second season. You should check it out.

thanks Rob… is that the ‘consensus’? LOL.. I thought the consensus was on my side of the argument!
thanks for the comment!

I’m guilty here… in short, the fountain at my gym is both refrigerated and filtered, while the sink is neither. I do however get out of the way if ANYBODY comes up behind me. Just because I like filtered & cold water is no excuse to be inconsiderate.

Interesting subject. As a gym owner, I personally fill up my water bottle at the fountain. It is cold and it is filtered. The bathroom sinks are not deep enough to fit a water bottle under the spigot. And since it really doesn’t take long to fill it, it’s just never a problem.

Love it yes !!!! Some people have no clue!!! even in the Personal Training Studio I tn at people will fill their bottles at the fountain with a bottle from the drinking part. I drink from the bottle filler so to get the most water in the shortest time!!!

I hate those plasticated bottles too Jackie, but I simply must give you a hard time about the picture you shared with us from the top of Diamond Head. There you are with the infamous plastic bottle. LOL Great abs by the way. Tom

HAHAHAHA!!! CRAP!! BUSTED!! You are right Tom, there I am with the evil plastic bottle. Travelling and I didn’t have my beautiful stainless steel bottle with me … just took the bare essentials. And it was way too hot to climb that hill without water…!!
thanks for the spanking. I guess I set myself up for it!

The main reason I fill my stainless water bottle up at the fountain is because it won’t fit under the faucet in most rest rooms. I also worry about the cleanliness of water fountains, but if the water is cold and filtered at least it tastes good! I’d never hold people up for a long fill, however. That is really rude!
