Experimenting With Supplements
So, the “unheard of” has happened.
I find myself intrigued by a couple of supplements and have decided to try them out.
Anyone coming here for very long probably already knows I don’t particularly believe supplements are necessary if you’re eating a well-rounded, healthy and varied diet of primarily whole, natural, one-ingredient foods.
I believe you can get all the nutrition you NEED from your food, if you’re eating properly.
And since I never seem to get SICK, maybe I’m on to something…
But after being offered a two month supply to ‘try out’ I do find myself intrigued by these ones. Mostly because all of them look to be from whole, natural sources and claim all sorts of wonderful health benefits…
…but also cuz I’ve never even HEARD of two of them and dammit! … I’m CURIOUS!
Have you ever heard of Green Lipped Mussel Extract?
Neither have I!
Have you ever heard of Deer Velvet (as a supplement, I mean)?
I know, right? Me neither.
Then there’s Grape Seed and Grape Skin Extract with Reservatrol.
Yah, I’ve heard of that one, but I’ve heard good things and I got the offer to sample all these for two months so that’s what I’m gonna do.
Here’s way more information about these supplements and what they’re supposed to do for you:
So, I’ll see you back here in 60 days to report in if I’ve experienced any differences in my performance or hamstring issues.
Actually, if I start to notice stuff changing I’ll report in even sooner and give you an update.
If not, well … you’ll hear from me about this experiment again in 60 days when I’m done. If I’ve got nothing to report no sense in reporting nothing, right?
Have a fit, fun and fantastic day.

ps. in the meantime, if you’re interested in checking out more details about these supplements for yourself, here’s the company that sent me these samples: Mountain Red New Zealand

I wasn’t a supplement taker either, for the same reasons you mention, until a year ago when my doctor urged me to at least up my calcium. I could see her point about that but then after reading countless article about the degradation of the quality of our food supply it dawned on me that even if I am eating right that doesn’t mean I am getting all my body needs.
Have I noticed a change in the last year, yes and no actually. My hairdresser says my hair has improved and my fingernails are healthier, both good signs. So I will continue taking my supplements as they are from good sound and sustainable sources, at the end of the day it doesn’t hurt to cross all your t’s and dot all the i’s right.

hmmmm…. I dunno if I TOTALLY agree with that … just cuz … well…. supplements are PROCESSED. We rail against processed foods and eat naturally for our health, then what do we do? We go and buy a bottle of pills that are processed, as ‘insurance’, when really, just eating as healthfully and naturally as possible is the best way to get nutrition that isn’t AS compromised as even those vitamins from healthy sources probably are.
I mean if our food is already compromised, where are they getting the stuff they put in the vitamins? The same compromised food? And then further compromising it by processing it into a pill, powder or tincture.
That’s my theory anyway.
I had the same experience with my nails once I got off the crap diet and onto whole natural foods.
