A Story About Salt
HEY!! … Yes, I am still alive!!
I’ve just been swamped beyond belief and still … STILL … trying to get the “Hot at Home” website up so I can get my book out to you guys.
I’m sorry it’s taking me so long. Jeez, I hate technology sometimes.
Anyhoo, I was hard-boiling eggs the other day. I use salt in the water to keep the shells from cracking while they boil.
It got me to thinking. And reading.
Reading? Reading what?
Why, the nutrition label of course.
I’m an avid reader of nutrition labels.
Always read the nutrition labels of your foods. It’s an eye opener, let me tell you.
Otherwise, how do you know what the HELL you’re putting in your most precious commodity… your body??
I know you’re gonna be interested in what I learned from reading the nutrition label on my salt package today:
See what I mean?
Always read your nutrition labels.
The stuff you can learn is amazing.
And it might just change your mind about what you’re putting in your body.
Living in oblivion isn’t the way to stay (or get) healthy. EDUCATE YOURSELF about your food.
And live a longer, healthier life as a result.
Just don’t step in front of any moving trains. I can’t help you with that one.
Have a fit, fun and fantastic day.

Calcium silicate is there to prevent the salt from clumping and is harmless.
Potassium iodide is added basically any table salt since 1924 as most people were/are iodine deficient.
I’m not sure about the sodium thiosulfate. It’s a form of salt as well. The normal sodium chloride (AKA table salt) isn’t the only form of salt.

OK, I did a little research for you to see what’s in the typical see salt. See salt is mostly sodium chloride as well, as anyone would expect, but in contrast to table salt has no form of iodine added. It typically contains some other salts like calcium sulfate, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate and potassium chloride, but none of them in a significant amount.

hm. alright. I’m still sticking with seasalt. I don’t care what those other things are in there for, I don’t want to put unnecessary chemicals into my body. I’ve noticed a MARKED difference in my overall health since I started paying attention to ingredient lists and eliminating things that are full of chemicals and preservatives.
