How To Resist Temptation
As you are likely already aware, I run a lot. I enjoy running.
I always use the seawall near my place as my running path. It has beautiful scenery, fresh air and lots of interesting things to look at along the way.
BUT…!!
Also along this seawall are several concession stands selling yummy tasting burgers, fries and other ‘not so good for you’ treats.
I can smell the aroma of the food wafting past as I run. And boy, it smells pretty good most days.
Here I am suffering through my long run in the hot sun, or the pouring rain, or the freezing cold while all these other people are lined up getting something yummy to snack on.
So, why am I not tempted to stop?
Why am I JUST NOT TEMPTED by the tasty treats at these concessions?
Oh man, I’ll tell you EXACTLY why…
There is always a way to take a temptation and turn it around and turn it into MOTIVATION to stay the course.
Remember what I told you in the last post (It’s All In Your Mind): your body is addicted to COMFORT.
Your body wants to stop and be comfortable and eat comforting food.
And if your body gets its way, that’s what you’ll do.
But that’s NO WAY to get to your goals.
Only your MIND knows what you want.
So USE your mind to take what’s tempting you and turn it into something that motivates you instead.
If you look hard enough you’ll find that ‘one little thing’ about your temptation that you can use to turn your thinking around.
Don’t listen to your body. Listen to your mind.
THAT’s how you get to your goals.
