I don’t take supplements.

If you’ve been coming here for long, you already know that.

I don’t believe we need them if we have our nutrition in good shape. Supplement Powder

I also believe that if we’re aiming to eat whole, natural, UNPROCESSED foods for our health, why are we turning around and stuffing a bunch of processed supplements down our throats?

I’m not a hypocrite. I don’t take supplements.

The other day I was given a free sample of a pre-workout supplement at a fitness talk I attended.

I’ve never tried a pre-workout supplement/stimulant before so I decided it would be an interesting experiment to put my personal beliefs aside for a day and give it a shot. Maybe I’d change my mind.

This is my experience:

So, as you heard, based on this experience my opinion about supplements has not changed.

No extra strength or noticeable increase in performance levels whatsoever during my workout … and a day-long, uncomfortable, jittery feeling to deal with afterward.

Yah. No thanks.

Interesting experiment, but I won’t be doing THAT again.

If you feel you NEED supplements, PLEASE take a close look at your nutrition, and stop trying to fix what’s broken with pills and powders.

Food IS energy. Need energy for your workout? Eat energizing REAL FOOD!

And don’t forget: if you’re trying to lose fat, those supplements contain REAL CALORIES.

If you’re taking them regularly or several times a day the most you’re probably doing for yourself is preventing yourself from getting to your goals.

Too many calories = no weight loss. No matter where those calories come from. No supplement that ADDS calories to your diet is going to help you LOSE weight.

Get your nutrition straight FIRST, then decide if you actually need supplements. Your decision about those pills and powders may change.

Have a fit, fun and fantastic day.
